When Warner Bros. officially released the title of the sequel to Man of Steel, the name left everyone scratching their heads as it is "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," and not "Batman Vs. Superman."

With the release of the first look at Henry Cavill as Superman today, Zack Snyder offers why he went with a "v" instead of "vs."

It wasn't just too go in a different direction because everyone was already calling the movie "Batman Vs. Superman," but the "v" has more meaning.

Via USA Today:

The director can't say exactly how the relationship between the two superheroes evolves, "but suffice it to say there is a 'v' in between their names" in the movie title, Snyder says. He explains that having the "v" instead of "vs." is a way "to keep it from being a straight 'versus' movie, even in the most subtle way."
