The Avengers director Joss Whedon recently attended a QnA where he discussed what didn't make it into the movie.

One of the more interesting tidibts is the fact that Whedon wrote an early draft of The Avengers script that was heavy on The Wasp (via The Collider).

He wrote what he called a “very Waspy” draft and began to get carried away by writing much too much about her, saying, “She’s adorable! I’m just going to write her!”

Perhaps the Wasp was cut because of the Ant-Man movie and Marvel Studios wanted her featured there?

Whedon also said he originally included an Avengers villain that the characters could kick the crud out of, but the Studio put the stop to it, with Whedon saying the villain could still appear in another movie. Could it be the Super-Adaptoid?

He also fought hard for a second villain, but declined to say who that villain happened to be. Though the studio rejected this request, the villain may appear in a future film. Whedon commented that Tom Hiddleston was fantastic as Loki, but he had in mind a villain that his heroes could wail on.

4781 Most likely the villain would have to be some sort of robot to fit the bill, with Ultron being an obvious contender; however, as Loki was the featured villain, Ultron may be too big of an Avengers villain just to be featured in a battle against the Avengers. Super-Adaptoid would work and even fits with the Cosmic Cube angle as it contains a shard that enables it to copy powers.

As Cosmic Book News previously compared The Avengers and The Avengers 2 to Star Wars and Empire Strikes Back, Whedon does the same.

I still believe that even though The Empire Strikes Back is better in innumerable ways than Star Wars, Star Wars wins because you can’t end a movie with Han frozen in Carbonite. That’s not a movie, it’s an episode.

And a quick Guardians of the Galaxy movie reference as Joss Whedon and James Gunn discussed the differences between writing and directing:

On the conflict between writing and directing, Whedon talked about a recent discussion with fellow writer/director James Gunn in which they each lamented the fact that becoming a director ruins the purity of the writing experience.

The Avengers 2 assembles May 1, 2015 with Iron Man 3 on May 3, 2013, Thor: The Dark World on November 8, 2013, Captain America: Winter Soldier on April 4, 2014, the Guardians of the Galaxy movie on August 1, 2014 and Ant-Man on November 6, 2015..
