Back in late March, director Zack Snyder was asked if his new Superman reboot, the Man of Steel, will have any cosmic aspects.
While Snyder was mum on the subject, Michael Shannon, who plays Zod, offers up some space age details.
In an interview with the La Times Hero Complex, Shannon was asked what he can say about the "scale" of the Man of Steel.
"It’s unlike anything I’ve ever done. It’s massive sets. It’s literally another world. It’s the first time I’ve acted on another planet," Shannon said.
Shannon is then asked about acting on a set with those types of features.
"As much green screen as there is and I’m sure will be, they’re actually building a lot of the sets as well. I had thought it was just going to be green screens everywhere and we would just be pretending everything. There’s quite a bit of detail they’re building and putting into it. It’s very helpful. The less green screen, the better — I don’t think you’d be able to find an actor on Earth who wouldn’t have that sentiment."
Of course, the "another world" would most likely be Krypton, the home planet of Zod and Superman. As Shannon states there is "quite a bit of detail," in addition to Snyder stating that his movie will be different than the Richard Donner classics, we can assume the visuals of Krypton will be different as well.
Back in April Cosmic Book News was tipped off to some early script details, with the following on the new look of Krypton:
Ӣ Krypton will not be the crystalline version like in the Donner films, but will incorporate technology, which is now considered "definite Kryptonian technology" with a more alien contemporary feel.
So it sounds as if we are getting a very different and detailed new Krypton. And how much of the new movie takes part on the alien world?
Stay tuned to Cosmic Book News as more on the Man Of Steel develops.
