Kathleen Kennedy, who is overseeing Star Wars for Disney, revealed that pre-production for the movie will begin this Spring and that more will be made known in January.

"I have no immediate update, but hopefully in January I'll have something that I can say," Kennedy informed ABCNewsRadio.

As of yet, no director is attached to the movie, which has a script being written by Michael Arndt.

Among the rumored contenders is Matthew Vaughn, who mysteriously bowed of directing X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Iron Man director John Favreau also said he is pursuing Star Wars.

It's thought that Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher and Harrison Ford will reprise their characters setting up a new generation of Star Wars characters and movies.

It's also been said that there will be Star Wars spin-off movies, with Empire Strikes Back writer Lawrence Kasdan, and Simon Kinberg (Sherlock Holmes, X-Men: Days of Future Past) on board to possibly write them.
