Marvel Cosmic comes to the big screen on August 1st 2014 with the debut of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Cosmic Book News just told you exclusively that Jim Starlin confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy movie would feature Thanos, who would then go on to star in The Avengers 2.
We also heard from Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige that the Guardians of the Galaxy movie would see the Guardians together as a team right off the bat.
When news of the Guardians of the Galaxy movie first surfaced we put it forth (not the only ones) that a Nova appearance might be possible.
After all, Nova was the sister title to Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's 2008 Guardians of the Galaxy comic book that the movie is based on. Nova's the cosmic space cop with the power of the Nova Force - Richard Rider Nova Prime - who saved the universe during the 2005-6 event known as Annihilation, which saw an invasion from Annihilius and his forces from the Negative Zone.
While the whereabouts of Richard Rider are currently unknown, as Rider recently saved the universe - again - in The Thanos Imperative, where he seemingly perished along side Star-Lord while battling the Mad Titan, a new "Kid Nova" has seemingly replaced Nova Prime in the Marvel comic books — much to the dissatisfaction of Nova fans everywhere.
However, good news could be on the horizon as a Hollywood actor has let it be known that not only is he a Guardians of the Galaxy fan and a Nova fan — but that he wants to play Nova in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie.
Scott Porter spoke with MTV News and mentioned his love for Marvel Cosmic and desire to play Nova or another Marvel Cosmic character.
"Marvel just announced that they're doing 'Guardians of the Galaxy,' which is another property that I love. I read it growing up," Porter told MTV on the red carpet for his new movie Ten Years. "I'd love to play Nova or another [cosmic character]."
Porter continues, with mention of newly confirmed director on the Guardians of the Galaxy, James Gunn, and also that he wouldn't mind playing a "Hero For Hire."
"Gunn is a unique choice. I think he could be a really great shephard for that property. I think 'Guardians' is going to be a lot of fun. I think it'll be very cool. I thought the next thing I might try and go after is 'Heroes for Hire,' but it looks like 'Guardians' is around, so..." Porter said.
Throughout the years, Porter's name has been associated with other superheroes including Captain America and The Flash. The actor has voiced Wolverine in the 2011 animated series, as well as Cyclops in the X-Men animates series and had a role in the X-Men: Destiny video game. He's known for Friday Night Lights and has The To Do List and Hit Me coming out soon, with 10 Years currently in theaters.
Do you think he would make a good Richard Rider?
