Roland Emmerich give two updates on two properties that he is known for with Stargate as well as Independence Day.

Regarding Stargate, he informs Digital Spy talks are underway with MGM to do a trilogy reboot.

We went to MGM, who has the rights, and proposed to them to do a sequel, but as a reboot... and reboot it as a movie and then do three parts. Pretty soon we'll have to look for a writer and start.

And regarding Will Smith being involved in the sequel to Independence Day, while the actor previously stated he wasn't interested, things seem to have changed as Roland Emmerich states a meeting is in place to talk about it.

It's changing every month. To put a sequel together of that magnitude is an enormous undertaking. I sometimes say 'no, Will Smith will not be in it because he didn't want to do it at first.' Now we have a meeting planned where we want to talk about it again. Anything can happen.

The original Stargate movie premiered in 1994 starring Kurt Russell and James Spader bringing in close to $200 million worldwide that also saw the popular TV series SG1 and Atlantis spin off of it.

Roland Emmerich previously let it be known that the Independence Day sequel will be set about 20 years after the original with the aliens returning; however, Earth is better equipped this time as they have incorporated the alien technology into their own. The movie was also announced to have a July 3, 2015 release, but Emmerich said it's probably looking more like a 2016 release.
