First it was comics, then it was TV and video games; now The Walking Dead creator Robert Kirkman will head to the movies, and he is bringing Norman Reedus with him.

THR reports that Robert Kirkman will produce the sci-fi thriller Air, which also sees Djimon Hounsou on board.

Air is set in an underground cryogenic facility set after a nuclear fallout renders the atmosphere unbreathable. The film centers on its two custodial workers, played by Norman Reedus and Djimon Hounsou, who take care of the cryogenically sleeping personnel that are to re-establish society, but they struggle to preserve their own sanity and lives while maintaining the extremely fragile environment of the last livable place on earth.

Air is co-written and directed by Red Dead Redemption and Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas writer and lead designer Christian Cantamessa. Chris Pasetto (How I Survived the Zombie Apocalypse) also co-wrote the script.

In addition to Robert Kirkman who is producing out of his Skybound Entertainement company, David Alpert (The Walking DeadBrian Kavanaugh-Jones (Insidious) and Chris Ferguson are on as producers. It's said Sony is in final negotiations to distribute Air as well.

Norman Reedus plays Daryl Dixon on the popular AMC TV series The Walking Dead.

Djimon Hounsou also stars in the upcoming Guardians of the Galaxy movie as Korath for Marvel Studios.
