While Rocket Raccoon might be getting all the attention regarding Guardians of the Galaxy, there looks to be another fan-favorite anthromorphic animal set to appear in the film with Cosmo.
Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige was asked about Cosmo being in Guardians of the Galaxy in a recent QnA, and while he didn't specifically confirm the character, he said "fans of Cosmo will want to see the movie."
There is also the added fact that Knowhere is set to be featured in the film, which is the base of operations for the Guardians in the comics with Cosmo the head of security.
In the comics, Cosmo first appeared in DnA's Nova #8 and is actually a Russian canine cosmonaut that has psychic abilities.
Rocket Raccoon and Cosmo share a unique relationship as true to life, raccoon and dogs don't exactly get along all that well.
Interestingly enough, back in November of 2012 James Gunn seemed to tease Cosmo with the following image.
"Guardians of the Galaxy" has an August 1, 2014 release in the U.S. starring Chris Pratt as Star-Lord, Zoe Saldana As Gamora, Dave Bautista as Drax, Bradley Cooper as Rocket Raccoon, Vin Disel as Groot, Lee Pace as Ronan, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Djimon Houndsou as Korath, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Benicio del Toro as The Collector, John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey and Glenn Close as Nova Prime Rael.
