While promoting his upcoming sci-fi thriller, Looper, at the Toronto Film Festival, Joseph Gordon-Levitt was asked about the Justice League movie.

As everyone knows, the end of The Dark Knight Rises showed Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character, John Blake, seemingly take up the Batman mantle.

However, it's been said on more than one occasion that this is the last of the Christopher Nolan Batman films.

But does that mean Joseph Gordon-Levitt wouldn't do Batman under another director?

As the actor told Jimmy Kimmel previously, it all depends.

"It always depends," he told MTV News. "I always pick projects that I want to be involved in for the same reasons. Is the script really good? Is the filmmaker a really inspired artist that I feel connected to? That's what I always pay attention to."

The Justice League movie does have a script by Will Beall, and is said to be getting released in 2015 — the same as Joss Whedon's The Avengers 2.

In addition, the Justice League movie is rumored to feature Henry Cavill, the new Superman from Man of Steel as well as possibly a new Batman in his second year or so of being a hero. Now, would that be Joseph Gordon-Levitt?

Time will tell.

At least Joseph Gordon-Levitt hasn't ruled it out, and if he actually does take the role, wouldn't that leave the door open for Christian Bale?

Looper opens in theaters September 28, 2012, directed by Rian Johnson, starring Bruce Willis, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo, and Jeff Daniels.
