While we can't expect Jeff Wadlow to spill the beans regarding which X-Men characters may be appearing in his X-Force movie, the writer/potential director might have offered some clues.
We get a short updated on X-Force with Wadlow speaking at the Kick-Ass 2 premiere in NYC with Screen Rant on hand to ask a few questions.
Wadlow states they are keeping the character reveals a surprise for the X-Force movie, but goes on to offer his favorites as well as mentioning an interesting statement about re-imagining existing characters (a clue to what happens with Bryan Singer's X-Men: Days Of Future Past?).
Look, I’m a huge Deadpool fan, who doesn’t love Wolverine – but obviously Cable is an iconic character we haven’t seen onscreen yet. I love Psylocke, Domino is an amazing character – it’s a long list of characters that have appeared in ‘X-Force’ – Colossus is in the current lineup… There’s a lot of really exciting characters that you can use in ‘X-Force’ that have been in other movies, that haven’t shown up, or maybe there’s ways to re-imagine them, even though they might’ve shown up in other films.
Jeff Wadlow also gave his interpretation of what X-Force is, as in the comics it's more of an aggressive group of X-Men characters that work outside the box that Professor Xavier created.
Wadlow hints at more of the same.
What ‘X-Force’ is – the way I talk about ‘X-Force’ is… ‘X-Men’ is about mutants, and not all the mutants get into the mansion. So I’m curious to tell a story about the mutants who don’t make it into the mansion.
The first X-Force line-up in the 90s, created by Rob Liefeld, consisted of Boom Boom, Cable, Cannonball, Domino, Feral, Shatterstar and Warpath. It has to be a given that Cable is a part of the film, who could also get his own spinoff movie, but what about the other four members? Existing movie characters could mean Deadpool and Wolverine or a couple of the lesser used X-Men such as the aforementioned Colossus or possibly [Arch] Angel.
