With Marvel releasing a high-res image of James Rhodes' new War Machine armor from Iron Man 3, just why the heck is Rhodey wearing that suit?
If you are a fan of the Marvel Comics you know that Spider-Man bad guy, Norman Osborn, donned the Iron Patriot armor as part of the Dark Avengers - bad guys Avengers that tried to sway over the American public with a similar look.
However, we know that James Rhodes isn't a bad guy in Iron Man 3, so what exactly is the reason?
Well, according to DailySuperhero, it's because James Rhodes is such a fan of Captain America!
See, Rhodey is a military man and a big fan of Cap, and as they are in the same movie universe, Marvel decided to have Rhodes show his appreciation for the first Avenger and paint one of his War Machine suits (key word being "one?!") to match the colors of Captain America's costume.
We've already heard there is basically going to be an army of Iron Men, so a few different War Machine armors would makes sense, and the military connection does make sense (similar to how Agent Coulson was a big fan of Cap's in The Avengers movie) as well.
There's also the Captain America tattoo that the Mandarin sports on the back of his neck, which would be another added connection, the Daily Superhero notes.
And if you are wondering if there will be a Captain America appearance in Iron Man 3, both Marvel Studios president and producer Kevin Feige, and Samuel L. Jackson, recently stated no Avengers will be in the movie.
Iron Man 3 blasts off May 3rd, 2013 directed by Shane Black and starring Robert Downey Jr., Scarlett Johansson (Black Widow), Gwyneth Paltrow and Don Cheadle.
