1602 Seems Mark Ruffalo's rendition of the big Green Goliath has been a smashing success as reports are coming in from those that have seen The Avengers movie that the Incredible Hulk is the show stealer!

While U.S. movie goers only have a few days until the big debut of The Avengers, the movie has already been released internationally to the tune of a whopping $178 million and change.

Now with those early responses being so positive comes news that - contrary to previous reports - a new Hulk movie might smash its way into theaters come 2015.

Paul Gitter, Marvel's President of Consumer Products, recently spoke to Forbes and noted that due to the increase in popularity of the Hulk surrounding The Avengers movie, a new Hulk on the silver screen is a possibility.

His sales are up in a major way. We repositioned him from where he was always misunderstood to now depicting him in a more heroic and aspirational manner,” says Gitter.

If Hulk’s successful turnaround continues, Gitter says Marvel “will spin him off to a stand-alone program next year,” supported by a big budget franchise movie in 2015.

Now we already know a new Hulk TV series is in the works from Guillermo Del Toro, as well as a new Disney XD cartoon, but the mention of a Hulk movie is surprising. Previously, Marvel Studios President and Producer Kevin Feige has mentioned that no new Hulk movie was in the works. Obviously with fan reaction to the Hulk in The Avengers being what it is, could sway things.

The Avengers movie assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
