Fast & Furious Star Paul Walker Dies At Age Of 40 In Car Accident

Star of the Fast & Furious films, Paul Walker is dead at the age of 40 following a car accident that occurred Saturday afternoon.

Paul Walker was attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide in Santa Clarita, California when the actor reportedly took a ride with a friend in a Porsche that went out of control, hit a tree and was engulfed in flames. Walker is said to be the passenger.

First responders on the scene recovered two bodies and announced both were dead on arrival.

The official Paul Walker Facebook page released the following:

It is with a truly heavy heart that we must confirm that Paul Walker passed away today in a tragic car accident while attending a charity event for his organization Reach Out Worldwide. He was a passenger in a friend's car, in which both lost their lives. We appreciate your patience as we too are stunned and saddened beyond belief by this news. Thank you for keeping his family and friends in your prayers during this very difficult time. We will do our best to keep you apprised on where to send condolences. - #TeamPW

Walker was on leave from filming Fast & Furious 7. His co-star, Dwayne Johnson, offered his condolences.

"All my strength, love & faith to the Walker family during this heartbreaking time. We find our strength...in his light. Love you brother," Johnson posted on Twitter.

Vin Diesel took to his Twitter account as well to offer up his thoughts and feelings.

"Brother, I will miss you very much. Heaven has gained a new angel. Rest in peace xxx," Diesel tweeted. "My brother and I.....we aimed for the stars together....and achieved more than we ever hoped we could with f&f. Although I'm totally heartbroken to of lost a brother....I feel honored and blessed to of known such a wonderful guy."

Universal Studios released the following statement:

All of us at Universal are heartbroken. Paul was truly one of the most beloved and respected members of our studio family for 14 years, and this loss is devastating to us, to everyone involved with the FAST AND FURIOUS films, and to countless fans. We send our deepest and most sincere condolences to Paul's family.

Fast & Furious 7 is scheduled for a July 11, 2014 release. Paul Walker's movie, Brick Mansions, debuts November 27, 2014.
