Cosmic Book News just received a tip that Max Landis is the favorite by director Zack Snyder to write "Man of Steel 2."

According to what we are told, director Zack Snyder loved Max Landis' "Death of Superman" short, as well as studied how the Chronicle flying sequences were done, and had a meeting about "Man of Steel 2" with Landis.

In addition, we are told that Max Landis is very much liked by DC Entertainment, as Landis is writing a back-up feature in this month's Action Comics Annual #1.

"They love the guy," the tipster offers.

Max Landis scored high marks with movie goers and studios with the release of his found-footage anti-hero movie, Chronicle. The movie with a budget of only $12 million went on to gross over ten times that with $126 million plus worldwide.

3506 Max Landis already has the script completed for the sequel to Chronicle, which his father, John Landis, recently came out and said was "amazing"; however, there appears to be some conflict between Fox Studios and Max Landis as apparently Fox wants the sequel to mirror the first movie.

"We want Chronicle again!" Fox Studios is quoted as saying by John Landis to the Playlist. John Landis goes on to state that his son replied, "No, this is the sequel, it’s the evolution," with Fox shooting back, "No, we want that movie again!"

We can't verify the information, and this source is different from our Justice League movie source, but I suppose it is worth a mention that Henry Cavill's "sonic boom" in the Man of Steel footage resembles Landis' take on flight in Chronicle. In addition, a new writer coming onboard "Man of Steel 2" doesn't sound that farfetched as Snyder had his 300 co-writer, Kurt Johnstad, do rewrites on the David Goyer/Christopher Nolan Man of Steel script.

Stay tuned to Cosmic Book News as more on the Man Of Steel develops.

Man Of Steel flies into theaters June 14th, 2013 directed by Zack Snyder starring, Henry Cavill as the Man of Steel, Diane Lane as Martha "Ma" Kent, Kevin Costner as Jonat han "Pa" Kent, Amy Adams as Lois Lane, Michael Shannon as Zod, and Russel Crowe as Jor-El.
