About a week ago, a federal lawsuit was filed against Bryan Singer alleging Singer sexually assaulted then 17-year-old Michael Egan numerous times back in 1998-1999.

Bryan Singer has now released the following statement denying the allegations and announcing he will not be a part of promoting X-Men: Days Of Future Past.

The allegations against me are outrageous, vicious and completely false. I do not want these fictitious claims to divert ANY attention from X-Men: Days of Future Past. This fantastic film is a labor of love and one of the greatest experiences of my career. So, out of respect to all of the extraordinary contributions from the incredibly talented actors and crew involved, I’ve decided not to participate in the upcoming media events for the film. However, I promise when this situation is over, the facts will show this to be the sick twisted shake down it is. I want to thank fans, friends and family for all their amazing and overwhelming support.

Singer already dropped out of promoting the movie at the recent WonderCon and cancelled a planned appearance with the Vice President of the United States.

In addition, it's been reported that ABC has cancelled promotions with Bryan Singer's name attached.

Since the initial lawsuit was filed, Michael Egan has filed three more against prominent Hollywood individuals.

Singer's attorneys have said they are counter-suing and state they have proof that refutes Egan's claims.
