It's confirmed that Rocket Raccoon will have an accent in the James Gunn-directed Guardians of the Galaxy movie, but which sort of accent remains to be seen.

Many fans of the comics read Rocket Raccoon with an English accent as the character's name is based on the Beatles song "Rocky Raccoon," and then there is the fact the character gained prominence with British writers Dan Abnett and Andy Lanning's 2008 comic book. The Ultimate Marvel Vs. Capcom 3 video game also featured Rocket Raccoon with a British accent as did the Avengers cartoons.

Now in a recent interview, Bradley Cooper, the voice of Rocket Raccoon, lets it be known they have decided on the accent mentioning either a city accent or a cockney accent. My understanding of a cockney accent is it's dialect from the southeast of England and east London. I'm guessing when Cooper refers to a city accent, he still means an English accent, but from a different part of London, and hopefully not like something out of the Bronx.

"One thing we debated was he’s seen as a cockney accent sometimes, so we talked about whether we’d do that or do this sort of other guy from the city a little bit," Cooper said.

"Yeah, we're in the middle of it," Cooper replied when asked about if they have decided on the final voice for Rocket.

Cooper also mentions that Chris Pratt, who plays Star-Lord, is "unbelievable and Zoe Saldana is great. She's always great. Chris Pratt just blew me away. I thought he's just the perfect guy."

For news on the Guardians of the Galaxy trailer, I've recently been told it's fantastic along with information about the look of Lee Pace and Ronan.

The "Guardians of the Galaxy movie" has an August 1, 2014 release directed by James Gunn and starring Chris Pratt as Peter Quill Star-Lord, Dave Bautista as Drax The Destroyer and Zoe Saldana as Gamora, Benicio Del Toro as The Collector, Michael Rooker as Yondu, Karen Gillan as Nebula, Lee Pace as Ronan, Djimon Hounsu as Korath the Pursuer, with John C. Reilly as Rhomann Dey, Glen Close as Nova Prime, and Bradley Cooper as the voice of Rocket Raccoon.
