826 We are about two months away from the premiere of the Marvel's blockbuster, The Avengers, and already there has been some mention of the sequel.

As fans who have been following all the movie news will note, The Avengers basically combines all the previous Marvel comic book movies into one huge film.

Iron Man, Captain America, Thor and the Hulk join forces with Nick Fury, Black Widow and Hawkeye to take on that diabolical discarded Asgardian, Loki, and his evil alien armada!

Director Joss Whedon, who is at the helm leading our Assemblers to a most certain(?!) victory, has recently commented on the sequel.

After The Avengers is all said in done, obvious question would be: How do you top it?!

Well, Whedon actually thinks you should go in the opposite direction.

"By not trying to," Whedon tells SFX Magazine. "By being smaller. More personal, more painful."

Whedon continues and offers that while they could easily go the route of duplicating the first movie, the story should be one that is more natural.

"By being the next thing that should happen to these characters, and not just a rehash of what seemed to work the first time. By having a theme that is completely fresh and organic to itself."

Whedon then says he likes to get inside the heads of the characters, as that makes the total experience worth it even more.

"I want to know what makes them tick, what makes them flawed, what makes them fight - and ultimately, what makes them awesome," he said. "I go to these movies for those moments when the heroes define themselves, either through action or deliciously overwritten speeches."

The Avengers assembles May 4th, 2012 and is directed by Joss Whedon, starring Robert Downey Jr. as Iron Man, Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Chris Evans as Captain America, Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury, Mark Ruffalo as the Hulk, Scarlett Johansson as the Black Widow and Jeremy Renner as Hawkeye.
