Sony has already announced a release date for Amazing Spider-Man 4 with May 4, 2018, but it might be without Andrew Garfield.

In an interview with Yahoo, Garfield lets it be known that his current contract is good only for another movie, meaning for Amazing Spider-Man 3 which comes out June 10, 2016.

I mean I’m under contract for another one after this… as far as a fourth one? That’s not anything to do with me.  But yeah, I think what we’re doing here is we’ve established the world. And now we get to really play inside that world.

Of course it is entirely possible Sony and Garfield could come to terms on a new contract or a new actor could nab the role. Or for that matter -  another reboot?

2018 is still a ways off, but in regards to Amazing Spider-Man 2, which hits this May, both director Marc Webb and the villain of the movie with Electro, Jamie Foxx, offer it will be better than the first.

"This time around we’ve really focused on making this a driving action movie from the get go,” boasts director Webb of the movie’s action credentials, complementing what new Harry Osborn actor Dane DeHaan calls the “really great” script.

“When they did the first [movie] they were like rookies at it, letting people know what was going on… and it was fantastic,” agreed Electro star Jamie Foxx. “But now they’re really in command of the roles. Marc Webb is in command of the scope of the movie and where he’s going with it.

The "Amazing Spider-Man 2" swings into theaters May 2nd, 2014 directed by Marc Webb starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Jamie Foxx, Dane DeHaan, Paul Giamatti, Felicity Jones, Colm Feore, and Chris Cooper as Norman Osborn.

Synopsis:

We’ve always known that Spider-Man’s most important battle has been within himself: the struggle between the ordinary obligations of Peter Parker and the extraordinary responsibilities of Spider-Man. But in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, Peter Parker finds that a greater conflict lies ahead.

It’s great to be Spider-Man (Andrew Garfield). For Peter Parker, there’s no feeling quite like swinging between skyscrapers, embracing being the hero, and spending time with Gwen (Emma Stone). But being Spider-Man comes at a price: only Spider-Man can protect his fellow New Yorkers from the formidable villains that threaten the city. With the emergence of Electro (Jamie Foxx), Peter must confront a foe far more powerful than he. And as his old friend, Harry Osborn (Dane DeHaan), returns, Peter comes to realize that all of his enemies have one thing in common: OsCorp.
